Last month, many people attended the official ground breaking ceremony for the new CTA Yellow Line station, which will be built near Oakton Street and Skokie Boulevard in downtown Skokie. The project, which should be completed in the fall of 2011, is expected to cost more than $20 million. Officials believe the downtown station is essential to attracting new business to the area as part of a downtown revitalization effort. "I couldn't agree more," said Gina Speckman, executive director of Chicago's North Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau. "The new station will make it easier for even more people to make their way to our area to enjoy all that Skokie and the entire North Shore have to offer."
