
Special Offers at Local Restaurants all February
For the third year in a row, Chicago's North Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau is hosting North Shore Restaurant Month! From Wednesday, February 1 through Wednesday, February 29, dozens of the North Shore's most popular restaurants will be participating by extending special offers to diners all month long. "The culinary talent on Chicago's North Shore is unsurpassed," said Gina Speckman, Executive Director of Chicago's North Shore Convention and Visitors Bureau. "Each year, more restaurants join in on this exciting promotion and with leap year, we get an extra day of dining!" she adds. Professional ice sculpting demonstrations comes to Westfield Old Orchard. Visitors are welcome to pose (or propose!) using the ice sculptures as a backdrops. In the spirit of the holiday, there will be three ice sculptures over 7 feet tall and 8 feet wide with images including LOVE, an engagement ring, and two Eskimos holding a heart. At each of the ice sculpture displays there will be complimentary treats, like hot tea from Adagio, cookies and hot cocoa from Corner Bakery, product samplings from Bath and Body Works, and much more. Share the love by striking a pose with your Valentine in front of your favorite ice sculpture. A Valentine's Day Cabaret Concert!

Now performing together for the very first time, this trio of chanteuses will explore the romantic side of the American Songbook in a Valentine's Day cabaret concert showcasing their musical passion and powerful pipes! All three performers are featured in Northlight's 2011-12 Season: Susie McMonagle (Snapshots, Black Pearl Sings!), Heidi Kettenring (Season's Greetings) and Christine Sherrill ([title of show]). The new exhibit, Ours to Fight For, explores and celebrates the achievements of Jewish men and women who were part of the American war effort both on and off the battlefield. In their own voices and through their artifacts, letters, and photographs, the "Greatest Generation" tells the stories of what the war was like for all its participants, and for Jews in particular. Approximately 500,000 Jews served in all branches of the U.S. armed forces during the war and 52,000 were decorated for bravery. Ours To Fight For brings to life the actions and feelings of these courageous young men and women - their discomfort, camaraderie, faith, fear, horror - and the deep meaning they found in getting the job done.
